Last nights game went off as billed.  A battle of undefeateds.  Neither team wanted to give up the game on this one.  The Deer Valley All Stars fell behind by three in the bottom of the second inning to Arrowhead.  In the top of the fourth we were able to score a hard fought run, but it was only one as Arrowhead got the out they needed after loading the bases.   Then in the bottom of the fourth, Arrowhead got their run back going up by three again.   Then it was quiet on both sides until the top of the sixth when Deer Valley came up to bat.  Arrowhead's pitcher seemed to lose a step and that was all we needed to battle back and get three runs to tie the game.  Our pitcher only got stronger as the night wore on and held their bats silent after the fourth.  Three up, three down in the fifth.  Three up, three down in the sixth.   Top of seven, last inning in regulation of the tie ball game and Deer Valley stands in.  Chelsea fly's out to left followed by Kaitlin grounding out to first.  Two out, no one on and we start a rally.  Debra doubles to center field followed by Andrea laying down a beautiful bunt for a single moving Debra to third.  Kelly stands in and takes the first pitch in the dirt that the catcher can't handle and here comes Debra sliding in safe at home to put us up by one.  Unbelievable, the Deer Valley All Stars take the lead on a steal of home. This was a great thing as Kelly then grounded out to the pitcher.   If Debra hadn't stole home, she would still be standing on third in a tied game.   Bottom of the seventh and Kristy does like she has done before.  Three up, three down.  Deer Valley wins 5 to 4 in a nail biter for sure.

Deer Valley remains in the winners bracket and will most likely face these same Arrowhead All Stars Thursday night at 6:00 PM.  A wonderful game last night showing the heart and drive to win these girls have.   I hope Thursday ends the same way, just with a lot more runs on the board for Deer Valley so we parents aren't left out of breath from holding it the entire game.  Congratulations girls on a hard fought victory.

I would also like to wish my sister Julienne, a wonderful and happy 40th birthday today.  It's been baseball and softball almost every night so we haven't been able to talk a lot, but I do hope this birthday is a barn burner for her.  The Big 4 0.  Enjoy, it only comes around once.   Until next time, stay safe and I'll be typing at you later.
